Libero.id - After worked for the Angkor Elephant Company for 15 years, a poor female elephant has finally met her bitter ending as she collapsed and died from a suspected heart attack. She died while carrying tourists to a Cambodian temple.
On that tragic day, Sambo had been working for 40 minutes in 40°C heat, transferring tourists one at a time to the ancient temple of Angkor Wat.
A veterinarian said that she suffered a heart attack after some times enduring “high temperatures, heat exhaustion, and lack of wind that would have helped to cool her.”
According to Metro, an investigation has been launched after the elephant’s death, following a petition to end elephant riding in order to give better lives for the elephants. Even if it doesn’t look so cruel, we didn’t know what we have done to the animal until a grim thing like this happened.
Some pictures were posted on Facebook, showing her dead body lying on the side of the road, breaking people’s hearts.

“Conditions should be regulated if working Cambodia’s last remaining elephants is what Cambodia actually wants to do,” said Jack Highwood, the one who runs Elephant Valley Project.
